Inviting the Seasons of Transition

Growing up in Lexington, Erik loved watching and drawing the numerous fish in the family fish tank. He admires and seeks to capture beauty he sees in the world around him.
Picture
This piece aims to capture the spring and autumn seasons--two seasons that are associated with the New England outdoors experience. Both sides of the door are mirrors of each other: a winding path or creek moves from the background to the foreground to inspire a sense of exploration within the viewer.

The autumn side depicts turkeys on an autumn path. The bright foliage covers the ground and the trees as the path winds and recedes. The spring side depicts a forest creek: trees part and make way for running water. Along the banks of the creek, flowers grow, and two frogs rest in the foreground. In combination, these two scenes characterize some of the most emblematic and beautiful aspects of fall and spring, and encourage viewers to go outdoors to enjoy these seasons.
