Go Out Doors!

Our partnership with the Lexington Historical Society during this auction was a major success. The painted doors from the Go Out Doors – Lexington show that were installed along the Bikeway and at Lexington High School this summer were available for purchase at the Lexington Historical Society online auction site.

AND almost all the doors found a new home! That benefits the artists, the town, and the buyers of these doors that promote our connectedness to nature and enhance our enjoyment of the outdoors.

Lexington Council for the Arts administers State Funds by soliciting and evaluating applications for funding from eligible recipients, distributing the funds, and ensuring that they are properly used. The Council also undertakes projects intended to further the appreciation and support of the arts in Lexington.

Art in Nature in Lexington

Surprises for those who walk or bike. "Go Out Doors - Lexington" is a public art exhibit featuring 16 recycled doors decoratively painted by regional artists. Organized by the Lexington Council for the Arts, the exhibit comprises two installations.

The larger grouping of 12 is installed along the Minuteman Bikeway near the center of town, while a grouping of four, painted by Lexington High School art students,  has been placed on the green space at the corner of Waltham Rd and Worthen St to the right of the high school.

Inspired by the En Plein Air exhibit on NYC's High Line and the installation of artful recycled doors on display along a bikeway in West Concord,  "Go Out Doors" seeks to promote re-connection to nature during these times of social distancing, home schooling, and telecommuting.

These works of art are surprising waypoints of delight and way to connect to our inner self. Be a part of this visual journey to celebrate and rejuvenate through nature, our senses, and healthful outdoor activity.
